Arsenal, AC Milan and RB Leipzig were among the names linked with RB Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai. However, according to the recent developments via Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, sister club Leipzig could be the ones who manage to lure the youngster away from the Austrian league.
The 20-year-old has been brilliant for Salzburg and has been on the verge of making a move to a big club. Romano previously discussed the future of the Hungarian midfielder on his “Here We Go” podcast on Patreon, mentioning that a move for the player was imminent.
The deal-breaker for the youngster and his agent was consistent playing time, which would be offered to him at Arsenal, and Leipzig, and the latter looks closer to the deal now than the Gunners do.
The latest updates in the Szoboszlai transfer saga suggest that Leipzig will be hoping to pay the release clause before Christmas, which is valued at €25 million. The player is supposedly focused on the fixtures this weekend before announcing a final decision regarding his future.
Leipzig are confirmed to have shown interest in another one of their sister club’s most talented players in Szoboszlai. Even if the German club pay up, the Hungarian midfielder will have to wait till January, when the transfer window opens, for a chance to get some game time for his new club.
Despite the heap of young talent at the disposal of Julian Naagelsmann at Leipzig, Szoboszlai will no doubt be a starter for the German tactician unless the existing players really step up their game following the addition of the new player.
Having been involved in 9 goal contributions in 10 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga, as well as a couple of goals in the Champions League, the 20-year-old will be coming into his new club with a fair share of experience at the top.
