RB Leipzig are exploring the idea of signing Jonathan David from Lille in the summer. The striker has been very impressive this season, scoring 15 goals in 23 Ligue 1 games and is currently the joint-top scorer of the French top flight alongside Kylian Mbappe and Folarin Balogun.
His ability to play as the central, as well as the 2nd striker in Lille’s system has made him a suitable target for the Bundesliga club. But, the deal to sign him could be quite difficult to pull off since they expect a high price to be paid for the Canada international.
Jonathan David one of the possible options for RB Leipzig in the summer
The striker wants to leave RB Leipzig in the summer, and was previously considered as an option by Marco Rose at Borussia Monchengladbach. There is no release clause in his contract, which is why negotiations to sign him could prove to be tough.
RB Leipzig are likely to lose Christopher Nkunku in the summer, since he has agreed to sign for Chelsea. Although Benjamin Sesko will be signing for them as his replacement, they are keen to get a proven goalscorer through the door as well.
And a profile like that of Jonathan David could be exactly what they need going forward. He joined Lille from Belgian club Gent in 2021, and has grown into a star player, winning the league with the team as well.
