Razer to increase the prices of its next-generation gaming laptops from 2022

Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan acknowledged today that his business would raise costs for next-generation gaming laptops.

Both Intel and AMD will introduce new laptop architectures early next year. The high-end AMD Ryzen 6000 series codenamed “Rembrandt” and based on Zen3+ architecture, as well as Intel’s 12th Gen Core “Alder Lake-P” based on a combination of Golden Cove and Gracemont architectures, will raise the performance bar even higher in comparison to previous designs.

Along with the following CPU series, AMD and NVIDIA are likely to release updated graphics architectures. The AMD Radeon RX 6000M is anticipated to get a 6nm respin, while NVIDIA will launch the RTX 3080 Ti top mobile GPU. Unfortunately, the performance boost from all of this new gear will not be the only one.

According to Razer CEO, next-generation Razer laptops would have to cost more due to considerable increases in component pricing. Min-Liang Tan acknowledged that Razer’s next-generation gaming laptops, including the company’s flagship Blade line, will be more expensive. The business only unveiled its first AMD-based Blade notebooks earlier this year, and more AMD laptops are expected to be released in 2022.

As per Razer’s current pricing, the most costly Blade laptop is USD 3700. The Core i9-11900H CPU, RTX 3080 GPU, 17-inch 4K 120Hz monitor, and 32GB of DDR4 memory are all included. The most affordable Blade 15 Base laptop costs 1800 USD and has a Core i7-11800H CPU, RTX 3060 GPU, and 144Hz FullHD display. A Blade 14 machine powered by AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX and equipped with an RTX 3070 costs roughly USD 2200.

Next-generation Razer laptops are now slated to make their debut around CES 2022, around the same time when Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA will unveil their new devices. The component price rise stated by Razer CEO includes CPUs and GPUs and displays, next-generation DDR5 memory (to be supported by both CPU architectures), and storage.
