The head coach of the Indian Cricket team, Ravi Shastri, is reportedly set to step down from his role after India’s campaign in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. He has reportedly rejected a new contract offer from the BCCI regarding the role as well.

The powers that be at the Indian cricket board are happy with the coach and all that he has accomplished since taking charge in 2017. However, their lack of success in ICC tournaments is one of the main criticisms that has been launched at Shastri during his time as coach of the national team.

Shastri has coached Virat Kohli and his team to series wins at Australia and England, and also at home to the latter. BCCI were willing to give the veteran an extension until India’s tour of South Africa in December. However, Shastri is unwilling to take up their offer to stay beyond the upcoming tournament.

Batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar will all resign before India take on New Zealand up ahead. As a result, we will be seeing a total makeover of the Indian cricket team in the months ahead.

Rahul Dravid has been approached by the BCCI as a potential replacement for Ravi Shastri in the role of the Indian cricket team’s head coach. However, Dravid is reportedly going to take up an offer as the NCA chief. The BCCI is also inviting applications from potential candidates. So, we might see someone completely new at the helm once Ravi Shastri concludes his tenure as head coach.
