The video was fake and made using Deepfake, a technology that permits scammers and cyber criminals to edit and modify an image or video utilizing machine learning and artificial intelligence. Before Rashmika Mandana, we also got an edited image of Katrina Kaif spreading onto the internet. In between this, the main twist is the image is originally a screen-grab from the upcoming Tiger 3 movie. The image had been modified.
The actress Katrina Kaif posted on her Instagram, that shows Katrina Kaif in an action sequence for Tiger 3 wearing a towel. the image has been modified and the actress is shown in the same pose along with a different and altered outfit. This thing makes an image vulnerable.
Within a few hours, the modified and fake image was deleted from social media. Katrina Kaif has altered the picture from the ‘Tiger 3’ movie scene by raising concerns due to deepfake technology that can take images easily as real people. It can change them to look at things completely different. In this, the image shows her in a different outfit rather than what she really wore in the film.
In the case of Rashmika Mandanna, a deepfake video revealed her in a situation that she was never in, it could damage her reputation. The video exposed the popular actor visiting into the elevator. A journalist and researcher named Abhishek Kumar, raised attention to this issue by calling for a legal and regulatory framework to identify the rising deepfake issues in India.
In the video of Rashmika Mandanna, the actual footage shows Zara Patel who is a British-Indian influencer, the terrible fact was replaced digitally with that of the actor by using deepfake technology. In India, deepfake content has increased concerns regarding the potential for misuse and the necessity of taking legal action against that cybercrime.
