Leeds United winger Raphinha has several clubs interested in him this summer. But, Arsenal seem to be leading the race to sign the player.
Barcelona had agreed personal terms with him over a move, and were seemingly ahead in the race. But, they needed the Yorkshire club to be relegated in order to activate his €25 million release clause. But, Leeds have managed to survive in the Premier League and are now demanding a sum worth €65-75 million for their star forward.
Raphinha a serious contender for Arsenal transfer
Arsenal are seriously interested in signing the Brazilian, and have been in direct contact for the past few weeks. They have been interested in signing the player since March, but face competition from rivals Chelsea and Tottenham.
Raphinha was Leeds United’s best attacker this past season, and played a big role in keeping them up. He scored ten of their 40 goals this past season in the Premier League, and could now step up to a bigger challenge.
Given Barcelona’s financial fair play restrictions, they will be unable to pay the amount that Leeds want. As a result, they are effectively out of the race to sign him. With reports that Ousmane Dembele is set to leave the club in the coming days, the club will be missing an important attacker, and will not be able to replace him.
However, Barcelona are prioritising the signing of Robert Lewandowski this summer and are trying their best to get the move over the line.
