Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane only has 1 year left on his contract and it has been rumoured that the Frenchman is looking for new challenges. Real Madrid head coach Zidane has left the club so it may open the floodgates for other players as well.
If Varane doesn’t sign a contract extension, Real Madrid may look to sell the player this summer rather than lose him for free next summer.
Varane is currently with the France national team for the European Championships. He was asked about his future but he informed that this is not the right time to talk about his future and he is right now concentrated on his selection in the France team for the Euro 2021.
Varane said, via Manchester Evening News: “ This is not the time to talk about my future, I am focused on the selection, on this Euro, it is normal and logical to ask the question and for my part it is normal and logical to focus on the upcoming deadlines,”
“We are all human beings. We can think about it. As for my personal case, I am focused on the objectives that we have in the France team, it is not a subject that I will discuss every day in my room at Clairefontaine.”
“I am focused on my goal, and now is not the time to discuss it. If I have to talk about it, it will be directly with the people concerned.”
Real Madrid would be hoping that Varane renews his deal and stays at the Bernabeu as they are currently going through a transitional period and having a defender like him will make it easy for them.
