Recently, he was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia that could see him reunite with Karim Benzema. But, sources from France have denied a transfer to Saudi as well as Qatar at this stage. Raphael Varane had a brilliant run at Real Madrid, but decided to leave a couple of years ago and join Manchester United. Injuries hampered his progress in England, and eventually caused him to retire from the French national team.
The player has mentioned before that he intends to retire at Manchester United, Real Madrid or his boyhood club Lens. Given Madrid’s condition, a short-term move back to the Spanish capital could be on the cards. Or, he could also choose to return to Lens for a final run before hanging up his boots.
