Manchester United have confirmed that Ralf Rangnick will not be continuing as a consultant with them now that his spell as manager is over. The German has left by mutual consent now that he has been appointed the head coach of the Austrian national team.

Rangnick was appointed by United following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. While results did not improve very drastically, he was able to lead them to a sixth place finish this past season.

Here is what the club revealed on their official website: “We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as interim manager over the past six months.

“By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not therefore be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford.

“We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career.”

With Erik Ten Hag being appointed the new manager of the first team, Ralf Rangnick’s role would’ve been to advise him about signings. But now, it seems like the squad rebuild will be done without his mentorship.

Rangnick will be taking charge of Austria in their upcoming Nations League fixtures. His team will be facing Croatia, Denmark and France in their group stage draw starting next week.
