Manchester United have officially confirmed the appointment of Ralf Rangnick for the remainder of the season. The German will be the interim manager until the end of the 21/22 season. Thereon, he will be a consultant for the club and will have a direct say in who the next manager will be.

According to renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Rangnick would also be interested in the permanent job if United offered it to him down the line. Currently, though, it is uncertain whether he will be in charge of United’s next game against Arsenal in midweek.

Michael Carrick might have his last game in charge of the Red Devils against their rivals before he is replaced by Rangnick. Carrick will then be a part of the coaching staff, alongside Mike Phelan and some of Rangnick’s own assistants to help him out.

Ralf Rangnick: “I’m excited. The squad is full of talent and has a great balance of youth and experience. All my efforts will be on helping these players fulfil their potential then I look forward to supporting the club’s longer-term goals on a consultancy basis”. 🔴🇩🇪 #MUFC pic.twitter.com/zt4x6nfjvS

“I am excited to be joining Manchester United and focused on making this a successful season for the club,” Ralf Rangnick said to the official United website.

“The squad is full of talent and has a great balance of youth and experience. All my efforts for the next six months will be on helping these players fulfil their potential, both individually and, most importantly, as a team.

“Beyond that, I look forward to supporting the club’s longer-term goals on a consultancy basis.”

Ralf Rangnick has been considered by many to be exactly the man that Manchester United need right now. The veteran manager has been an inspiration for top managers like Jürgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann of Germany. And now, he joins the Chelsea and Liverpool boss in the Premier League to save United’s season.
