The Shrachi Group is expanding its presence in sports by acquiring Rajasthan United FC, which plays in the I-League. The takeover has been announced by the senior officials of the conglomerate, and is subject to clearance from the AIFF.

The group has already made its presence felt in kabaddi by launching Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers in the Pro Panja League. And now, they are venturing into football, and have also launched their ‘Athlead’ program, which promises to develop football at the grassroot level.

Following the rebrand, the team will be known as Shrachi Rajasthan United from the coming season. This was confirmed at a recent event at the Press Club of India.

The club was established in 2018 as JECRC CF before being rebranded in 2020 as Rajasthan United. In 2021, they won the I-League Qualifiers and became the first club from the state to qualify for the league.

This past season, however, they finished in 11th place out of 13 teams. And now, they have appointed Mario Lemos, the former Abahani and Bangladesh caretaker manager, as the new head coach of the first team. The club is also expected to receive a transfer boost, starting with the arrival of veteran Narayan Das.

How much did Shrachi Group pay for the Rajasthan United takeover?

Allegedly, ₹120 crore
