Rayo Vallecano have confirmed the signing of Radamel Falcao on a free deal, with the contract reportedly worth one year although official details have not been revealed yet.
Falcao most recently featured for Turkish club Galatasaray, and had his contract terminated by mutual consent in the middle of the week. Falcao made 43 appearances for the club in all competitions. And although his time there was plagued by injuries, he managed to score 20 goals. His three appearances this season have been brief from the bench, and the two parties have decided to move on as a result.
His arrival has now been confirmed by the La Liga outfit, who also returned to the top flight this term. They are currently in 10th place after winning one of their first three games in the league.
The Colombian striker was quite successful in his previous stint in La Liga. In two seasons with Atletico Madrid (2011-13), the player helped the Rojiblancos win the Europa League as well as the Copa del Rey before moving to French side Monaco, Chelsea and Manchester United. He was also a part of the Monaco team that won Ligue 1 in 16/17, dethroning PSG from the top of the domestic mountain.
For Atletico, the striker made 91 appearances and scored 70 goals. In 140 appearances for Monaco, he managed to score 83, and at 35, will be expected to lead Vallecano to a decent finish in the table by leading the line. Falcao will wear the number 16 shirt at his new club.
