The Cantabrian coach has officially been fired, according to MD. They say that it has been reported by the club that “the new coach will be announced in the coming days, within the framework of a broad restructuring of the first team.”
So, not only Setien is shown the exit doors, many of the players will be asked to leave as well as a part of “the so-called change” at the club after the heartbreaking loss to Bayern on Friday. This is the most humiliating result in club history as a result of the plenty of mistakes that the board under Bartomeu has done in the past few years.
Having landed for just seven months at Barça as a replacement for Ernesto Valverde, Setién has been sacked. MD says this was reported by the club through an official statement after the board of directors meeting at the Camp Nou offices.
Setien arrived promising a good game and he had a lot of expectations over Valverde. But not only he hasn’t lived up to it but has also ended the campaign without any title – something that had not happened since 2008.
Now, the Barcelona board will be appointing Ronald Koeman as the next coach of Barcelona. The Dutchman is currently over negotiations with the club and will soon take over the charge at the club.
This is just the start of the much proposed “changes” that are supposed to be taking place in the days to come. Also, there can even be a presidential election sooner as well, a lot of things are going on at the Camp Nou offices. A single humiliation has changed a lot of things that should have taken place earlier.
