This leak highlights the enhancements over Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and outlines numerous benefits for Android smartphones and tablets across various categories. Notably, the focus this time has been on GPU improvements, enabling gaming at 8K resolution, along with features like global illumination and ray tracing.
Everything About the Leaked Specs of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
The recent specifications leak uncovers a multitude of improvements in various aspects of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In terms of CPU and GPU upgrades, a leaked press slide showcased a ‘1 + 5 + 2’ CPU configuration, manufactured using the 4nm process. The CPU is reported to be 30 percent faster and 20 percent more power-efficient, although it’s unclear whether these gains are in comparison to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or its predecessor. The Adreno 750 GPU is indicated to be 25 percent more powerful and efficient than the previous generation.
The leak also reveals Qualcomm‘s dedication to smartphone gaming. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 now supports Unreal Engine 5 with Lumen and features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Game Super Resolution, capable of upscaling to 8K. It can even deliver 240FPS on a 240Hz display, thanks to the Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0, although the number of games supporting such high frame rates is not specified in the slide.
