Snapdragon X Platform for Budget PCs Coming Soon in India, Promising AI Features and Extended Battery Life

Like their global counterparts, the Snapdragon X CPUs likely support AI features through a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU). Snapdragon expects its new platform to power laptops priced under $600 (approximately ₹51,400) globally, and a similar strategy could be adopted for the Indian market.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Snapdragon India announced that the Snapdragon X platform will launch in India on February 24. While specific details are yet to be revealed, the event is titled “AI PCs for Everyone,” suggesting that the new processors could be targeted at offering AI performance at an affordable price point.

According to the company, the Snapdragon X platform is scalable across various thermal designs and form factors. Similar to their global counterparts, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X CPUs are expected to be manufactured using a 4-nanometer fabrication process.

They feature eight Oryon CPU cores with a peak clock speed of up to 3GHz. This is lower than the Snapdragon X Plus and Elite variants, which have clock speeds of up to 3.4GHz and 3.8GHz, respectively. In contrast, the Qualcomm Adreno GPU supports up to three external displays at 4K/60Hz.

The Snapdragon X chip supports up to 64GB of LPDDR5x RAM, a 30MB total cache, and a 135GB/s memory bandwidth. It’s equipped with a Hexagon NPU that can deliver 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of AI performance. Devices powered by these chips will officially be certified as Microsoft Copilot+ PCs. The company claims that its new chipsets offer up to two times longer battery life and up to 163 percent faster performance compared to other competing processors. They also support 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB 4 Type-C connectivity.
