The dates for the next few Snapdragon Summits are out, with Qualcomm announcing today the Snapdragon Summit 2024 dates. The firm CMO of Qualcomm, Don McGuire, confirmed a couple of weeks back that the next-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 mobile platform will be announced at this event. Here are the details:
More About the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit 2024
As is customary for Snapdragon Summits, the event will be held in Maui, Hawaii, and it will occur from October 21 through October 23. However, the CMO had previously announced that the upcoming flagship chipset will get its power from Qualcomm Oryon, which is stated to be a robust CPU and a fresh NPU (Neural Processing Unit) for a massive improvement in processing aid.
It is expected that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset will clock at a peak frequency of 4GHz. From the Geekbench database, the chipset scores 3,000 points in single-core and 10,000 points in multi-core tests. Reported to be built on TSMC’s 3nm, Gen 1, this SoC comes from Qualcomm. The chipset is allegedly an octa-core unit with two prime cores and six high-efficiency cores. The device will be powered by the Adreno 830 GPU, said to offer 10% improved performance in the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test over Apple’s M2 chipset and more.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 appears to have been able to maintain a stable frame rate in the 45 minutes of gameplay, which is pretty good for a game that is quite demanding like Genshin Impact. Xiaomi is expected to unveil the Xiaomi 15 series shortly after the event, becoming the first to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 smartphone.
Additionally, OnePlus and iQOO will launch their OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13 series, respectively, with this flagship Qualcomm SoC. Samsung is anticipated to use a higher-clocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in its Galaxy S25 series, branded with the Made for Galaxy tag. As official details are yet to be released, it remains to be seen how the new Snapdragon 8-series chipset will perform.
