Able to confirm the Snapdragon Summit in October 2024 from Qualcomm, where the company will announce its next flagship mobile platform, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The event will take place on October 21-23 in Maui, Hawaii, and will supposedly play host to multiple announcements about the so-called SM8750 SoC. The summit will apparently set the stage for smartphone launches from the likes of Xiaomi, OnePlus, iQOO, and more.

More About the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

One of the major changes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is its claimed switch to Oryon CPU design. As Qualcomm’s Chief Marketing Officer Don McGuire hinted back at MWC 2024, this change involves the dropping of off-the-shelf ARM designs in favor of high-performance custom CPU cores built by the team that the company picked up from Nuvia, a startup with roots in Apple. This is done to improve the overall processing power, but it could be a thermal performance concern at higher clock speeds.

According to reports, Qualcomm could go with a 2+6 octa-core CPU configuration for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 that should come with high-performance Oryon CPU cores or ARM’s latest Cortex-X925 core instead of any low-power efficiency cores. Further, it’s said that Qualcomm is going to use TSMC’s next-generation 3nm node (node #2), the N3E version of the process which would deliver even higher levels of performance and lower power consumption better suited to phones.

Benchmarks have leaked by voz.vn, and so forth. But early benchmarks show astounding performance boosts from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, including AnTuTu scores of 3,133,570 and Geekbench multi-core scores eclipsing 10,000. However, competition from MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400, which also utilizes ARM-designed Cortex cores, poses a challenge in multi-core performance.

Regarding graphics, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s Adreno GPU is reported to deliver significant improvements, with benchmarks suggesting a 43% performance increase over its predecessor. This enhancement promises smooth gameplay even in demanding applications like Genshin Impact at 1080p resolution.

Upcoming devices powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 include Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro, followed by releases from OnePlus and iQOO. Notably, Ming-Chi Kuo indicates that the Samsung Galaxy S25 series will adopt the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 globally, possibly bypassing Samsung’s Exynos 2500 due to production challenges.

In conclusion, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is poised to set new benchmarks in mobile processing and graphics performance, leveraging advanced CPU and GPU technologies to meet the demands of next-generation smartphones.
