Qualcomm launched its next-generation of chips, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 and the Snapdragon 7 Gen1 chip yesterday. The Snapdragon 7 Gen1 chip is a new processor that will power mid-range devices across the board and it is also the first mid-range chip from the company this year.
Qualcomm has already confirmed that the new chip has a lot of features that we have not seen before, top brands such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Honor will integrate this chip into their devices and release them in the second half of 2022. Oppo’s Reno8 Pro is one of the devices expected to debut this chip on the 23rd of May.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen1 SoC detailed specifications:
The Snapdragon 7 Gen1 chip is based on TSMC‘s 4nm architectural process. It is powered by four Cortex-A710 cores that are all clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A510 cores. It has the Adreno 662 GPU which offers nearly 20% faster and better performance than its predecessors.
The new Snapdragon chip packs an X62 5G modem with the capabilities of downloading 4.4GBPS and dual 5G connectivity. In addition to this, it supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth v5.3 along with Snapdragon Sound and aptX support. It can handle up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM.
For display, it supports up to 60Hz QHD+ or 144Hz FHD+ displays. In the optics department, it supports a single 200MP sensor, 64MP+20MP sensors, and three 25MP sensors. It also has three 14-bit ISPs that can capture nearly 720p video at 480fps and 4K HDR video at 30fps. The processor supports hDR10+, HDR10, and HLG formats.
Snapdragon 7 Gen1 SoC supports Android SE and an optimal Trusted Management Engine that guarantees you optimal security for digital keys and wallets. In terms of sensors, it has compatibility with GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, GALILEO, NavIV, and dual-frequency GNSS. Check this link for more details.
