The US chipmaker has recently updated its connectivity modules with latest solutions like 6 GHz Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Qualcomm launched their FastConnect 6900 and 6700Â mobile connectivity systems will feature the fastest available Wi-Fi speeds (up to 3.6 Gbps) on a mobile Wi-Fi offering.
Based on 14 nm process, these connectivity modules result in power-savings of up to 50%. These connectivity modules feature VR-class low latency and Bluetooth advancements delivering immersive audio experiences for classic and emerging LE Audio use cases.
If you are surprised by term Wi-Fi 6E, it means it’s still based on 6 GHz Wi-Fi band but the Qualcomm 4K QAM will convert this to a 2.4, 5, 6 GHz band Wi-Fi. Qualcomm says that this the most advanced modulation technique that extends the maximum QAM rate, across any supported band, from 1K to 4K for enhanced gaming and ultra HD streaming.
- FastConnect 6900 offers the fastest available Wi-Fi 6 speed, up to 3.6 Gbps, of any mobile Wi-Fi offering in the industry.
- FastConnect 6700 delivers impressive peak speeds approaching 3 Gbps.
Both of these connectivity modules comes with 160MHz-channel support in the 5 and 6GHz bands, expanding throughput while reducing congestion. The FastConnect 6900 delivers better performance with an additional unique feature implementation of 4-stream Dual Band Simultaneous (DBS) with multi-band (including 6 GHz) capabilities.
Coming to the Bluetooth 5.2 support, both FastConnect 6900 and 6700 come with the latest audio advancements for greatly improved wireless experiences. The Bluetooth 5.2 has been implemented using a second Bluetooth antenna with intelligent switching capabilities, overcoming common signal shadowing issues for unparalleled Bluetooth reliability and range.
Also, the new standard support superior Bluetooth audio with Qualcomm aptX Adaptive supporting wire-equivalent audio (up to 96kHz) and Qualcomm aptX Voice providing super-wideband quality calls. The Bluetooth 5.2 is compatible with the latest QCC5141, QCC5144, QCC3046 and QCC3040 audio SoCs for premium audio quality with low power consumption.
Qualcomm has already sent the FastConnect 6900 & 6700 connectivity modules to OEMs, so we can expect them to be incorporated in smartphones in the second half of 2020.
