But then the experienced Indian shuttler got the advantage of 15-11, and she maintained her handsome growth despite Wang’s strong battle.
PV Sindhu wins Singapore Open title
It was Sindhu’s third title in the BWF World Tour 2022. Earlier, she won two Super 300 level tournaments in this calendar tour, Syed Modi International and Swiss Open. In the BWF World Tour 2022 (Women’s Singles), Sindhu became the first player to win three titles.
In the meantime, Wang is still waiting for her first title in the ongoing BWF World Tour 2022, as it was her second runners-up experience in this calendar tour after losing the Indonesia Open 2022 (Level: Super 1000) final against the second-ranked Taiwanese star Tai Tzu-ying (23-21, 6-21, 15-21).
Last Saturday (16th July), the seventh-ranked Sindh comfortably reached the final of this competition after thrashing Japanese shuttler Saena Kawakami in the semi-final. In that 31-minute match, the scoreline was 20-15, 21-7. The 27-year-old Indian earlier beat Belgian Lianne Tan, Vietnamese Nguyen Thuy Linh and Chinese Han Yue respectively in this competition.
On the other hand, the 11th ranked Wang beat Japanese Aya Ohori by 21-14, 21-14 in the other semi-final of this Super 500 level tournament. Taiwanese Hus Wen-chi, Japanese Natsuki Nidaira and Indonesian Gregoria Mariska Tunjung were the other three earlier knock-out stage opponents of Wang in this tournament.
PV Sindhu became the second Indian Women’s Single player to win the Singapore Open title. Saina Nehwal created that history for the first time in 2010.
Also, B. Sai Praneeth is still the only Indian Men’s Single player to clinch the Singapore Open title, which he recorded in 2017.
