The post-drama void is real. *Pursuit of Jade* wrapped on March 26, 2026, with Fan Changyu rising from a butcher’s daughter to a battlefield general, and Xie Zheng finally reclaiming his honour — both living happily ever after with two children, still marching side by side. [Bleeding Cool](https://bleedingcool.com/movies/forgotten-island-a-bff-is-worth-fighting-for-in-the-first-trailer/) It was deeply satisfying. And now your watchlist feels oddly empty.

For viewers who loved the blend of romance, wartime conflict, and court politics in *Pursuit of Jade*, the following seven dramas offer similar narrative depth — each exploring strategic alliances, gradual emotional development, and women navigating rigid social hierarchies. ## The 7 Shows — Briefly Explained

**1. Legend of the Female General** — He Yan disguises herself as a man to protect her family’s legacy and rises through the military ranks, facing betrayal and political schemes while reconnecting with a general who suspects her true identity. The mirror of Fan Changyu’s journey — resilient, strategic, and deeply earned.

**2. Love Like the Galaxy** — A two-part epic featuring a spirited female lead and a powerful military general whose romance builds slowly across political and family drama. The FL’s family dynamics are a standout highlight, and the drama blends humour with serious court politics exceptionally well. [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forgotten_Island) One of the most beloved C-dramas of recent years.

**3. Prisoner of Beauty** — Xiao Qiao and Wei Shao enter an arranged marriage against a backdrop of political conflict between their families — a relationship that shifts from convenience to genuine partnership under sustained pressure. The emotional beats will feel very familiar to Pursuit of Jade fans.

**4. Blossom** — Perhaps the most essential pick on this list. *Blossom* is directed by Zeng Qing Jie — the very same director behind *Pursuit of Jade* — making it the most stylistically consistent companion watch available. Same visual DNA, same cinematic warmth, same meticulous costume and lighting work.

**5. Chang Ge Xing (Song of Youth)** — Based on the manhua *Chang Ge Xing*, the drama follows Princess Li Chang Ge’s revenge journey after her family’s downfall, transforming her into a military strategist who forms an unlikely alliance with a general from an opposing faction. [Dreamworks Animation Wiki](https://dreamworks.fandom.com/wiki/Forgotten_Island) The tactical battles and growing romance hit the same notes as Pursuit of Jade’s war arc.

**6. Story of Kunning Palace** — A woman reliving her life uses foreknowledge to navigate deadly palace politics in one of the darkest, most suspenseful C-dramas in recent memory. [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forgotten_Island) Notably, Zhang Linghe — the male lead from Pursuit of Jade — stars here too, playing a completely different kind of character. Essential.

**7. The Princess Royal** — A body-swap premise adds an extra layer of complexity to a compelling romance built on gradually revealed identities and the tensions of court life. [Dreamworks Animation Wiki](https://dreamworks.fandom.com/wiki/Forgotten_Island) Lighter in tone than Pursuit of Jade but equally smart in how it builds its central relationship.

All seven of these dramas share the same core [Chinese historical drama](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_historical_drama) DNA — layered female leads, slow-burn romance that earns every emotional beat, and political stakes that keep each episode compelling long after the romance is settled.
