Paris Saint-Germain have made Nuno Mendes‘ loan deal permanent, as confirmed by renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. The French champions have activated the €40 million option to keep him for the long term, with official communication completed between the two clubs.

The left-back has now become one of the main members of the starting line-up, with Achraf Hakimi holding down the other flank of the defense.

The 19-year-old was signed from Sporting last summer, and it was never in doubt that he would be staying in Paris for the long-term. The player has been impressive during his spell with the club, albeit there is scope for improvement as well.

He provided three assists in 40 appearances across all competitions this past season. It is easy to forget that he is still only a teenager, and needs time to develop into a top talent. But, he has all the tools needed to make it among the top full-backs in Europe.

This summer, the decision that needs to be made is to find depth behind Nuno Mendes. And with sporting director Leonardo leaving the club, it will take some time for the transfers to start coming in. Considering the amount that PSG paid to keep Mbappe at the club, and the signings they made last summer, it might be a relatively quiet window for the Ligue 1 champions.
