Paris Saint-Germain have made their decision, and will be accepting offers for Keylor Navas in the coming weeks. The Ligue 1 champions will be sticking with Gianluigi Donnarumma as their number 1 goalkeeper across all competitions.
Navas made the move to PSG after his memorable spell with Real Madrid. The Costa Rican shotstopper left for France in 2019, after spending five years with Madrid and winning three Champions League titles with them.
Keylor Navas to leave PSG leaving Donnarumma as starting goalkeeper
At the start of the season, PSG were able to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma on a free transfer. The AC Milan academy graduate chose to move on from his boyhood club after the Euros, where he helped Italy win the Euros at Wembley Stadium.
After three years with the club, Keylor Navas will be moving on and looking for a new challenge at the end of the season. He can still play at a top level, given that he is 35 years old and that goalkeepers are able to play much deeper into their thirties.
Donnarumma, on the other hand, is still only 23 years old and is set to be one of the top goalkeepers in the world in the coming years. He has shown signs of brilliance over the last few years, and with consistent game time at the top level with PSG, he could be among the undisputed best in the world.
Poor Navas, he deserves better, he is a top GK, there’s no question about it, I hope he can find a good team to call home until he retires, he has at least 2 more seasons at top performance in him, I understand PSG looking to the future too but in all honesty it looks like Donnarumma is not getting any better either, maybe the game has gone to his head, if that’s the case, it’s a shame, if he becomes the undisputed #1 with that mentality he will not grow.
