A lot has been said following PSG’s dramatic exit from the Champions League against Real Madrid. Reports that goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Neymar got into a locker room fight after the game were among the ones doing the rounds.
However, the two players have denied the rumours themselves, after Neymar shared his personal WhatsApp chat with Donnarumma. The goalkeeper sent his teammate the article, apologised for his error and called the report unacceptable. Neymar took the youngster’s side, and reassured him that they were on the same page.
Neymar and Gianluigi Donnarumma deny rumours of locker room fight
Donnarumma was at fault for conceding the first goal, after being tackled by Karim Benzema with the ball at his feet. On another day, the tackle could have been ruled as a foul. But, both the on-pitch referee and VAR deemed the challenge to be a clean one.
Neymar himself made a mistake which led to a goal, and helped Benzema complete his hat-trick in the second half. The team ended up collapsing in the second half after Benzema opened the scoring for PSG, and crashed out in the Round of 16.
There has been a lot of speculation about the future of the team in the aftermath of the big defeat. Mauricio Pochettino is safe on the bench for the time being, as he still has the club at the top of the Ligue 1 table. But, his future beyond the summer is still up in the air.
