Paris Saint-Germain have signed Sevilla attacking midfielder Pablo Sarabia after triggering his reported €18 million release clause.
Sevilla attacking midfielder Pablo Sarabia has joined Paris Saint-Germain on a five-year deal after PSG activated his €18 m release clause.
Sarabia joined Sevilla for a fee reported to be in the region of €1 million from Getafe in 2016. He quickly became an important member of the Sevilla starting XI. He consistently showed his versatility in the attack, scoring and assisting goals. He enjoyed a standout 2018-19 campaign. He scored 16 goals and assisted 14 goals in 43 appearances. He linked up particularly well with Wissam Ben Yedder at Sevilla.
Sarabia’s deal was due to expire in 2020 and contained a low release clause. So, Sevilla had been trying to tie Sarabia down to a new contract for almost a year. But he refused to pen down a new contract and instead moved to PSG.
Sarabia is yet to play for Spain’s senior side. But he will offer competition out wide and in attacking midfield for PSG. They are hoping to win a third successive Ligue 1 title next season. Although, their main objective still remains to win the Champions League for the very first time.
Meanwhile, Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is also expected to sign for PSG this week.
