Olivier Echouafni’s side needed the win to secure the title after a 0-0 tie against rivals Lyon on 30 May, and they did it in some fashion. This is historic for the Paris club as this is its first-ever title in almost 50 years after being formed. PSG’s season has been a fairytale with 20 wins, 2 draws, and no losses. It is also noteworthy that Lyon’s 80-match unbeaten league run, featuring 75 wins, was also ended by PSG last November following a 1-0 victory for the capital side.

This also means a change of the guard after 14 years as Lyon’s reign comes to an end. Not to forget that they secured a big victory as well on the final matchday winning 8-0 over Fleury 91 at home. This meant that they were just one point behind (61) their rivals PSG (62).
