PSG have emerged as the only club in contact with Messi and his father Jorge for a transfer, now that he is no longer continuing with Barcelona.
Jorge Messi will not fly to Paris to finalise the deal just yet, since he intends to be at the press conference at Camp Nou tomorrow. Messi will address the media for the first time after officially leaving the club and will draw his 21-year Barcelona career to an end formally.
Back when PSG signed Neymar, they used the Eiffel Tower to unveil the most expensive signing in the history of football. ESPN journalist Diego Monroig has now stated that the club have booked the Tower for August 10th, for €300,000. By the looks of things, it could be used to unveil the signing of the greatest footballer of all time.
Messi has been offered a two-year deal by the French club, with the option for a third. Normally, the transfer would not have been possible due to financial fair play. However, the rules have been relaxed due to the pandemic. Hence, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner could be unveiled as a PSG player in the next few days if he puts pen to paper.
Neymar is set to offer Messi his number 10 shirt, if he ends up linking up with the Brazilian again. The Argentinian could announce his next destination on August 8th at the press conference as well, but if not, there’s a good reason to keep our eyes on the historical landmark on 10th August.
