Rumors related to PS6 purely enjoyed a hype after the release of PS5 Pro and discussions continued about its price, features, models, etc. His words are from an interview with Famitsu, and he explains that just as the PS4 didn’t go away when the PS5 came, so too will the PS5’s lifecycle be long. “New hardware development should not be delayed until new technology becomes available,” he noted.

Nishino added that there are still many users playing PS4 games to this day and that PS5’s library is still expanding. That indicates that while the PS5 will continue to be supported, the PS6 can push the capabilities of what consoles can achieve. While the precise release of the PS6 is unknown, it might not launch until 2027 at the earliest, keeping in line with the console generation cycle. However, we may not see it until 2028, because Sony could lead with a Pro console.
