An anonymous source has just revealed some intriguing details about Sony’s upcoming home console. According to the report, Sony will release a brand new PS5 model as early as April 2023, roughly two and a half years after the original version was released at the end of 2020. The chances of it being a Pro model rather than the “slim” version we’ve been hearing about for months are extremely high.

If it is a Pro model, we can probably expect an Sony to increase in console performance and, as a result, a new chip from AMD.

Furthermore, there are rumours circulating about increased performance, and we know that the PS5 is currently cooled by a fan and a liquid metal compound, which has recently been the subject of controversy.

However, Sony should replace this system with liquid cooling, or “watercooling,” which is commonly found in gaming PCs, in the next generation. Therefore, its within expectations to anticipate an improved heat management, which will not result in a refusal to cool the console if the chip is more powerful. A cooling change could also imply a design change, but we’ll have to wait for more information on that.
