In a market dominated by Bollywood blockbusters, a quiet, thoughtful sci-fi film is doing something remarkable — holding steady and earning every single rupee through sheer word of mouth.

Ryan Gosling’s **Project Hail Mary** has now crossed the **Rs 26 crore gross mark** at the Indian box office in just 7 days — and the numbers tell a story of genuine audience appreciation rather than opening weekend hype.

## Project Hail Mary India Box Office: Day-by-Day Breakdown

| Day | India Collection (Gross) |
| --- | --- |
| Day 1 (Thu) | Rs 2.80 crore |
| Day 2 (Fri) | Rs 3.35 crore |
| Day 3 (Sat) | Rs 5.35 crore |
| Day 4 (Sun) | Rs 5.75 crore |
| Day 5 (Mon) | Rs 2.75 crore |
| Day 6 (Tue) | Rs 3.40 crore (est.) |
| Day 7 (Wed) | Rs 2.60 crore (est.) |
| **Total (7 Days)** | **Rs 26.00 crore** |

Day 7 saw a 23% dip compared to Tuesday — an expected drop as ticket prices returned to standard rates after premium pricing on Day 6. Importantly, the film’s **legs remain strong** for a weekday, which is a very healthy sign for a non-franchise [science fiction film](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fiction_film) in the Indian market.

## Why These Numbers Actually Matter

Let’s be real — Rs 26 crore in 7 days for a solo-lead Hollywood sci-fi film in India is genuinely impressive. This isn’t a superhero spectacle or a franchise sequel riding on nostalgia. It’s a deeply character-driven survival story, and audiences are clearly responding to it.

The extended first week is projected to close around **Rs 28 crore nett**, with the second weekend expected to deliver a solid bump. If word-of-mouth continues doing its job, a total **Rs 50 crore gross theatrical run in India** is very much on the cards — which would make it a definitive **Clean Hit** in the Indian market.

Globally, the film is already approaching **USD 350 million**, proving this isn’t just an India story.

## What Is Project Hail Mary About?

The film follows **Ryland Grace**, an American science teacher who wakes from a coma aboard a deep-space spacecraft with no memory of his mission. It’s the kind of film that reminds you why going to the cinema still matters.
