The Premier League has been suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic. They have planned “Project Restart” to start the 2019-20 campaign.

FIFA have proposed a change in-game rules to allow 5 substitutes in a match to protect players from getting injured. When the leagues will be restarted, the calendar will be congested by matches.

According to the chief executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association, Gordon Taylor, shorter matches are one of the measures being considered by the Premier League for when football restarts.

Taylor told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “We don’t know the future. What we do know is what propositions have been put, what ideas have been put: the possibility of having more substitutes, games possibly not being the full 45 minutes each way, there’s talk of neutral stadiums – there’s lots of things being put forward.”

“Just try to see what the proposals are and then have the courtesy to let the managers and players and coaches also assimilate all those and come to a considered view.”
