Just when you thought remakes couldn’t get more debated, Veer Pahariya’s **Prem Keetanu** teaser has dropped — and fans can’t stop comparing it to the cult-favorite Malayalam hit **Premalu**. The internet is buzzing, and not everyone’s convinced this remake can bottle the same magic.

Set to hit theatres on October 2, 2026, Prem Keetanu follows Pahariya’s character through the chaos of college life — dating, hostel drama, and all the messy fun of growing up. Sounds familiar? That’s exactly what fans are pointing out.

## Why Fans Are Drawing the Comparison

Reactions on X have been a mixed bag. Some users argue that [Premalu](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premalu)‘s charm was rooted deeply in its Malayalam setting and cultural texture — something they doubt a Hindi remake can fully recreate. Others felt the teaser didn’t even scream “remake,” while a vocal few called it an underwhelming copy altogether.

The makers haven’t officially confirmed the remake tag, but industry buzz strongly suggests Prem Keetanu is inspired by the Naslen–Mamitha Baiju starrer that became a sleeper hit.
