## Frequently Asked Questions

### Q1: What is the exact file size for Mafia: The Old Country preload and how much storage space should I prepare?

Mafia: The Old Country requires approximately 40 GB for the initial preload download, but the full installation demands 55 GB of SSD storage space. It’s recommended to have at least 60-65 GB of free space to accommodate day-one patches and future updates. The game specifically requires SSD storage rather than traditional HDD for optimal performance, especially for loading times and texture streaming. All platforms (Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S) have similar storage requirements. If you’re planning to install on PC, ensure your SSD has sufficient space and consider using your fastest drive for the best experience. Console players should also verify they have adequate internal or external SSD storage before starting the preload process through their respective digital stores.

### Q2: When exactly can I start playing Mafia: The Old Country after preloading, and do PC and console versions release simultaneously?

No, PC and console versions don’t release simultaneously. PC players get early access through Steam, with the game unlocking at 9:00 AM PDT on August 7, 2025 (12:00 PM EDT, 11:00 AM CDT). Console players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S must wait until August 8, 2025, at midnight in their respective regions. This means PC players get roughly 12-15 hours of early access compared to console versions. The staggered release is standard for many AAA releases, with digital PC platforms typically launching first. You can check the exact release time for your region on the official [2K Games Mafia website](https://mafia.2k.com/the-old-country/) or your platform’s store page. Once preloaded, the game will automatically unlock at these specified times without requiring additional downloads, allowing you to immediately start playing when your region’s launch window opens.
