The Indian Premier League is the biggest cricket competition in India. It has eight teams that play for a total of 59 games. One of the best ways to analyze the overall performance is by looking at their win percentage, which tells you how many games out of all they have played that they have won. This blog post will examine those statistics and show you the highest winning percentage of IPL teams and which IPL Teams are performing the best!

Let’s take a look at these teams as per their ratings.

1. Chennai Super Kings

Win Percentage: 61.28%

Last year, Chennai Super Kings was one of the IPL team’s best winning percentages to make it into the playoffs. However, this is not what makes them unique. In their nine years in IPL so far, they have been champions three times and runner-ups twice. So while they may be ranked seventh on our list with a 67% win percentage overall, that only tells half the story.

When you factor in how many finals appearances CSK has made (six) versus other top ten teams like Kolkata Knight Riders – who are no stranger to winning but only have a 36% success rate when making it past semi-finals – then you start seeing why CSK deserves its number six ranking!

2. Mumbai Indians

Win percentage: 57.75%

Mumbai Indians have a win-loss record of 282 wins, 206 losses, and 12 ties throughout their history. Their highest score in an innings was 212/0 against Delhi Daredevils on May 18th, 2011. Since Rohit Sharma became the captain of Mumbai Indians, they have won the IPL title record 5 times, which is the most by any team in the history of the Indian Premier League.

3. Sunrisers Hyderabad

Win Percentage: 53.70%

Sunrisers Hyderabad has made it to the playoffs in three out of five IPL seasons so far. They also have the third-best win percentage of all teams. The Sunrisers have a reasonably even win-loss ratio. They are fourth in the league for batting average and fifth-best in terms of bowling average. Unfortunately, this year has been the worst for them as they are at the bottom of the points table with just one win and 6 loses in 7 games played so far.

4. Kolkata Knight Riders

Win Percentage: 52.52%

The Kolkata Knight Riders are among the most successful of all IPL teams, winning 36 out of 78 games in total. They’ve won 36 from an overall record so far of 78 games played. With 20 wins and 18 losses, it would seem that KKR has been holding its own without contesting too many match-ups. Under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy, Kolkata Knight Riders have lifted the trophy two times. Now, it is up to Dinesh Karthik to continue the legacy Gautam Gambhir has left.

5. Rajasthan Royals

Win percentage: 51.37%

The Rajasthan Royals are among the most underrated teams of the Indian Premier League. They started the league as underdogs but to everyone’s surprise, they lifted the trophy in the first edition of the IPL in 2008 defeating Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings. Shane Warne was the captain that time. Since then, they have emerged as one of the best teams to play against. They have an impressive win percentage of 51.37%, which tells a lot about their capabilities.

6. Royal Challengers Bangalore

Win Percentage: 47.45%

This is a team with an impressive overall win percentage. It’s not surprising that they finished as runners-up three times in 2009, 2011, and 2016. The Royal Challengers Bangalore team is led by Virat Kohli and is backed by the likes of AB De Villiers, Padikkal, Glenn Maxwell, Yuzi Chahal, and Kyle Jameson, among others. This is one of the strongest teams in this year’s tournament.

7. Kings XI Punjab

Win Percentage: 46.02%

KXIP holds an impressive win percentage and has never lost more games than they’ve won during the tournament’s thirteen-year history. They’re experiencing quite a bit of success this season as well. The team is led by young KL Rahul and has got backings from legends like Chris Gayle, Mohammad Shami, and more.

8. Delhi Capitals

Win Percentage: 44%

Last year’s finalist, Delhi Capitals is a team filled with youngsters. Captained by Shreyas Iyer, they have the potential to lift this year’s trophy. Over the last few weeks, Delhi Capitals have had a good showing. They are currently ranked first in the IPL 2021 points table with 6 wins and 2 loses out of 8 matches played so far this season.

The Bottom Line

The most successful IPL Teams are Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. They have the best win percentage so far with 56% of all games played, which is a division higher than any other team player (Mumbai has an even better winning rate at 57%). However, the course of the Indian Premier League has changed. All the teams are equally strong with a robust bench strength. So, one cannot underestimate any team that will play in this year’s IPL. Check the complete second-phase of IPL 2021 schedule here. People have certain expectations from their favorite teams and they want them to win and entertain. So, it will be equally fun to watch these teams go head up against each other.
