What Is the Story About?
The film follows Pooja, a young woman whose life takes a dark turn after a suspicious death. As events unfold, different versions of the truth appear. It is built around conflicting perspectives and raises questions about consent, responsibility and how society judges people when the facts are unclear. It is described as a disturbing story of rejection, obsession, suspicion and social judgment. Rather than a simple whodunit, it seems more interested in how assumptions and bias shape what people believe.
Why Did It Take Four Years?
The film was announced in 2022 and reportedly finished shooting that same year. Then it sat unreleased. Reports point to a few reasons:
- It was first planned as a direct-to-digital release on JioCinema.
- The JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar merger changed the platform’s plans and disrupted the release.
- Talks with other streamers reportedly stalled over the acquisition price.
- A possible 2024 theatrical release was also postponed.
Director Navjot Gulati has spoken publicly about the difficulties, saying the film was caught between the production house and potential platforms. Another Maddock title, Tehran, also waited before it reached ZEE5 in August 2025.
The Team Behind It
Gulati made his directing debut with Jai Mummy Di in 2020 and has written for Running Shaadi and Ginny Weds Sunny. Niren Bhatt, known for Stree 2, Bhediya and Munjya, contributed to the screenplay and dialogues. For a look at the lead actor’s career, see Mrunal Thakur on Wikipedia.
How to Watch?
You can stream it on the official ZEE5 site or app from October 2. A subscription is needed, so it’s worth checking your plan before the weekend.
Is It Worth the Wait?
Long delays can make fans wary, but the cast and writing team give it real promise. If you like tense, character-driven thrillers, this one is worth a spot on your list.
