## The Plot: More Precious Than Gold

Set in coastal Kollam, Kerala, the story follows PP Ajesh, a jewelry sales agent who provides gold to brides’ families expecting repayment from wedding gifts. When Bruno’s sister Steffi’s family defaults on their payment after her marriage to the abusive Mariano, Ajesh embarks on a dangerous quest to retrieve his gold—leading to a thrilling cat-and-mouse game.

The film’s title translates to “the man with gold,” but it’s really about human dignity, greed, and survival.

## Why Critics Are Calling It a Must-Watch

India Today praised it as “a realistic film that holds a mirror to society,” while audiences on social media have hailed Basil Joseph’s performance as his career-best. The sharp screenplay, powerful dialogues, and non-judgmental character study make *Ponman* stand out in Malayalam cinema’s crowded landscape.

The Hindu noted the film avoids preachy messaging about dowry, instead offering an engrossing exploration of characters trapped by social malaise—making it worth its weight in gold, literally!

## Streaming in Multiple Languages

One of *Ponman*‘s biggest advantages on OTT is its multilingual availability. Whether you prefer Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, or Hindi, you can experience this compelling narrative in your language of choice, expanding its reach far beyond Kerala.
