Rian Johnson’s new Peacock film explores a new journey of lie-detecting in the world of television titled ‘Poker Face‘. Later this month with the release of his mystery-of-the-week series Poker Face introduced Natasha Lyonne as a lie-detecting, crime-solving Charlie. She holds many extraordinary abilities to identify r someone’s lying, she has taken to the road in her Plymouth Barracuda, uncovering a new mystery, and colorful new characters, wherever she goes.
Charlie’s origin has briefly teased as the video starts, seemingly unveiling the landing in trouble with some shady individuals after utilizing her lie detection. It needs to move in order to avoid the thugs after her, she feels like she is on the road, traveling from stop to stop with everything out of her car.
As any good mystery novel protagonist though, Charlie seems to invoke death in her. In several scenes whether in a cabin, hotel, or raceway, she finds herself involves in many different murder cases from car malfunctions to shootings and stabbings. After using her ability to dig out who among the suspects is lying. It seems the connecting theme between episodes seems to be Charlie’s attempts to evade the wolves on her heels.
Lyonne will encounter tons of stars on her journey, including Megan Suri, Colton Ryan, Brandon Michael Hall, Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ron Perlman, Stephanie Hsu, Nick Nolte, Tim Blake Nelson, Benjamin Bratt, Hong Chau, Lil Rel Howery, Jameela Jamil, Chloë Sevigny, David Castañeda, and Danielle Macdonald among others. On top of starring, Lyonne helmed one of the ten episodes herself with Johnson writing and directing the rest. The two also executive-produced the series.
Poker Face holds Johnson’s career success with secrets. For Johnson, Poker Face is mainly a departure from his typical mystery fare thanks to its short-form anthology format, but he’s proven time and again to be a master of the genre.

Netflix confirms that Poker Face has set the first four episodes on the table on 26th January on Peacock in every Thursday follow-up.
