Piotr Zielinski is all set to sign for Inter Milan in the summer transfer window as a free agent, after his contract with Napoli expires. The midfielder has agreed a pre-contract agreement with the club, and will make the move at the end of the season, bidding farewell to the Azzurri after spending eight years with them.
Aged 29, the Poland international is at the peak of his abilities and will be a massive addition to the Inter squad. They already have a wealth of midfield options consisting of Hakan Calhanoglu, Nicolo Barella, Davide Frattesi, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Stefano Sensi and Kristjan Asllani.
While Sensi was expected to join Leicester City in the January transfer window, he ended up staying as the move fell through. But there is a chance he could leave. And in that event, the arrival of Zielinski will be a huge addition, strengthening their squad even further.
Piotr Zielinski to sign for Inter Milan as free agent
In 355 games across all competitions for Napoli, Zielinski has scored 50 goals and provided 46 assists. This season, he has made 19 Serie A appearances, scoring and assisting two each. Over the last eight years, he has been a steady presence in their squad and was one of the key players under Luciano Spalletti, winning the Scudetto last year.
But now that his deal is running out, he has decided that the time to move on has arrived. President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed that Piotr Zielinski would be moving on, and that is why he hasn’t been registered for their Champions League knockout stages either.
Alongside Zielinski, Inter are also anticipating the signing of Mehdi Taremi from Benfica in the summer transfer window. The attacker will be a valuable addition to their already stacked attack, and would set the team up for even more domestic success.
