Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s time at Chelsea has not gone as expected. The former Borussia Dortmund forward returned to the Premier League to reunite with Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.
However, shortly after, the German was sacked from his position leaving Aubameyang stranded. The player admitted that Tuchel was one of the main reasons behind his transfer to Chelsea. But, he has continued to remain professional even though chances have been very few under Graham Potter.
In spite of the injury to Armando Broja, the new manager has not turned to him in the centre-forward role. Kai Havertz has been the more trusted option for Potter, and the results have been very inconsistent to say the least.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has no way out of Chelsea this season
According to FIFA rulings, a player cannot feature for three clubs in a single season. As a result, there is no way that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can play for any club that isn’t Chelsea or Barcelona this year.
The Catalonian side are open to him returning, but only if Memphis Depay leaves. The Dutchman has been linked with a transfer to Atletico Madrid to replace Joao Felix, who left to join Chelsea on loan for the rest of the 22/23 season.
But, Chelsea would have to let him go for free if Barcelona are to sign him again for the remainder of the campaign. As of now, there have been no talks surrounding his situation. The coming weeks will reveal if he will end his spell at London for a move back to Spain by the end of the month.
