Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could have an out from Chelsea even though the European transfer window is closed. The striker is behind Kai Havertz in the pecking order, and has found opportunities hard to come by under Graham Potter even though he has impressed in the Champions League.

The Gabon striker has been left out of their UCL squad for the knockout stages, even though he has been very productive in that competition. And according to the transfer rules, he cannot feature for more than two clubs in a season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to move to the MLS?

The Chelsea number 9 is in talks over a loan move to LAFC, who have shown interest in signing him. However, he has not yet given the green light to the transfer which is why it is still a work in progress.

LAFC is only one of the options being looked at for Aubameyang as things stand. But, the approval of the player is needed for the move to go through.

As the player himself confirmed, one of the main reasons he signed for Chelsea was the link-up with Thomas Tuchel. But, the German was sacked only weeks after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returned to London.

And his fortunes haven’t been the best under Graham Potter, who prefers Havertz as the number 9 ahead of him. Armando Broja, when he was fit, was also ahead of the veteran, and David Datro Fofana will only add to the competition now that he is part of the first team.

So, it remains to be seen which solution Aubameyang will choose for the rest of the season.
