Phil Neville has renewed his contract with Inter Miami, after leading the team to the playoffs in 2022. The Englishman’s new deal runs until December 2023 at the very least, and could be extended further if he can build on his performances.
It was a particularly challenging season for the Miami-based club, who had signed 18 new players for the current season. His contribution to the team has been quite influential, and a continuous period in charge will allow the team to become more stable.
Phil Neville renews contract with Inter Miami
“It’s a great honor to stay at Inter Miami,” Neville said. “I’ve always thought long-term, I’ve always thought that I want to be at this Club for a long time. I think we’re in the early growth period of this Club, the early building process and I feel as if we’ve made great strides over the last two years, but by no means is the journey finished. In 2022 we finished sixth in the league, we got into playoffs. But that’s not success, that’s progression. The expectation is to win.”
After extending Phil Neville’s contract, Inter Miami are also confident of recruiting Lionel Messi following the World Cup. The Argentine is expected to be keen on moving to the MLS, and the transfer could happen in the new year.
