Phil Jones is in talks to finally leave Manchester United, and Ligue 1 club Bordeaux have shown interest in signing the player on loan until the end of the season.
The player is keen on the move, and Bordeaux are pushing to sign the player as well. Talks between the two parties are in the final stages, and only the green light from manager Ralf Rangnick remains for the deal to be completed.
Phil Jones could end Man Utd slump with Bordeaux move
The centre-back made his first start for Manchester United in over two years and was their best player on the pitch in their 1-0 loss against Wolves.
Phil Jones joined United in 2011 in a £16.5m deal from Blackburn, with United beating every top club in England to the defender’s signature. He was tipped to be Sir Alex Ferguson’s greatest ever signing, but injuries have hampered his progress.
As a result, he has become almost forgotten as part of the Manchester United squad. With the likes of Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly ahead of the Englishman in the line-up, Ralf Rangnick has told the player that he has a slim chance of playing regularly at the club.
So, it is in the best interest of both parties to agree to the move, and it seems only a matter of time before the transfer is approved by Rangnick and the deal is made official.
