Phil Foden has been named the FWA Men’s Footballer of the Year 2024 ahead of Rodri, Declan Rice, Cole Palmer and Ollie Watkins. The Manchester City winger has been in top form this season, and his brilliance has now been recognised by the journalists across England.
Surprisingly, his Manchester City teammate Erling Haaland was not even voted for. The striker has struggled with injuries this season, but still leads the race for the Premier League Golden Boot. In spite of that, it hasn’t been enough for him to claim the award for a second season in a row.

Foden earned 42% of the 800-member voting community’s approval for an incredible season. The 23-year-old has scored 24 goals across all competitions, 16 of which have come in the Premier League. The winger has scored two Premier League hat-tricks this season, alongside two braces.
Pep Guardiola had used Phil Foden sparingly up until now, but he has finally repaid his manager’s faith by registering a career best tally this season. Alongside him, Manchester City Women’s Khadija Shaw has been named the FWA Women’s Footballer of the Year, completing a great year for City in both competitions.
