Chelsea technical director Petr Cech has stepped down from his role after three years with his former playing side. He joined them right after retiring, following the Europa League final which he lost against Chelsea themselves.

And now, following the takeover, he has decided to part ways with the Blues paving the way for a new chapter. The former goalkeeper’s decision has been confirmed by an official statement from himself.

Here is what Petr Cech had to say while stepping down from his role: “It has been a huge privilege to perform this role at Chelsea for the past three years. With the club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time for me to step aside. I am pleased that the club is now in an excellent position with the new owners, and I am confident of its future success both on and off the pitch.”

Chelsea’s backroom staff has been undergoing a massive change. Long-time chairman Bruce Buck recently resigned from his position, while transfer negotiator and fellow director Marina Granovskaia has also left the club.

Todd Boehly is personally leading the transfers of the club right now, and is looking to appoint a new director of the club. Former Barcelona full-back Maxwell is one of the names on the list, while Liverpool’s Michael Edwards is also one of the options that Boehly is considering.
