The 17-year-old took to his Instagram Story on April 12 to address the situation directly, writing: “Just to let everyone know, I will not be attending prom. Please stop sending death threats to EVERY teenage girl who could remotely be associated with me based on their proximity to where I live.” [E! He added: *“It’s not fair to them or their families. Maybe also just stop sending death threats in general. That’s just not cool. Kinda weird I have to say this.*

## **The Bigger Picture**

This isn’t an isolated incident for the cast. Co-star Aryan Simhadri previously shared an uncomfortable encounter involving a group of fans who recognized him in public, leaving him visibly distressed. While the show has been hugely successful — adapting Rick Riordan’s beloved novels about a teenage demigod navigating a world full of mythological monsters — this toxic fan behaviour is casting a dark shadow over its young stars. This is a textbook case of [parasocial relationships](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parasocial_interaction) spiraling dangerously out of control, where fans confuse fictional loyalty with real-world entitlement.

**Fan Reaction**

The genuine fanbase was quick to respond with support. Many took to comments urging followers: *“Walker, we support you! Real fans will make sure you and the whole cast stay safe.”*
