Manchester City’s Spanish coach Pep Guardiola wants to strengthen its defensive line and is desperately looking for candidates to bring central defenders to England. According to SkySports, Pep wanted to bring Juventus’s Leonardo Bonucci to Manchester this time, however, it seems the defender has declined to the offer.

Bonucci, flattered by the proposal of Pep, has chosen to reunite with his former teammate Andrea Pirlo, who is the new coach of Juventus now. SkySports even says that refusal has been so rapid that it could not reach to negotiations.

FILE – In this Sunday, April 23, 2017 filer, Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci celebrates after scoring a goal during the Serie A soccer match between Juventus and Genoa at the Juventus stadium in Turin, Italy. Bonucci won six Serie A titles in seven years at Juventus but the Italy defender joined Milan last year _ in what was the shock of the transfer window _ for a fee of more than 40 million euros ($45 million) amid reports of a dressing room spat. Juventus said on Thursday that the 31-year-old Bonucci, who has reportedly taken a pay cut to move back to Juventus, has signed a five-year deal. (Alessandro Di Marco/ANSA via AP)

This is why Manchester City is looking elsewhere for the right man to strengthen the defense, currently, their favorite option is Napoli’s Koulibaly. Bonucci was Pirlo’s first teammate, wearing the Juventus shirt between 2011 and 2015 and also both of them played for the Italian national team.

The 33-year-old desires to play under the instructions of Andrea Pirlo, his former teammate, to ultimately fulfill their long-awaited Champions League dream.
