Luv Ranjan’s youth-focused romance, *Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar*, picked up a bit on Saturday. Still, with a cast of newcomers and limited buzz, it faces an uphill climb. Here’s where the numbers stand.

## Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar: Box Office

| Day | Net collection (India) |
| --- | --- |
| **Friday (Day 1)** | Rs 50 lakh |
| **Saturday (Day 2)** | Rs 65 lakh |
| **2-day total** | **Rs 1.15 crore** |
| **Projected weekend** | About Rs 2 crore |

## What the Numbers Say?

The film earned Rs 65 lakh on Day 2, a 30 per cent jump from Friday. That’s a positive sign, but the base is so small that it expects the first weekend to close around Rs 2 crore, which it calls a disappointing start.

## Why Is the Start So Weak?

With no big names, the film was always going to be a non-opener. Pinkvilla also points to limited promotion and a lack of strong word of mouth. A film like this needs either star power or a loud buzz to pull audiences in, and neither has happened yet.

## How Does It Compare?

Luv Ranjan’s earlier hit *Pyaar Ka Punchnama* in 2011 netted over Rs 3.25 crore in its opening weekend, so this film is trailing the franchise’s own history. The small consolation is that it’s performing slightly better than *Tum Mere Ho* and other small releases this weekend.

## Conclusion

Our own review rated the film a decent 3/5 for its witty dialogue and music, yet reviews alone rarely fix a quiet start. Unless there’s a miraculous rise on Sunday and a steady weekday hold, the film looks set for a modest run. Still, sleeper growth sometimes happens when young audiences share a film online, so keep an eye on Monday’s trend.
