Barcelona’s La Masia academy has a reputation of producing some of the world’s best footballers, with the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and Leo Messi himself coming through the ranks at the youth academy.
The new generation is being marked by Ansu Fati and his compatriot and teammate, Pedri who has seen his market value jump to a massive €70 million on Transfermarkt, that keeps track of the values of all the players across the globe alongside keeping live stats.
Pedri was rated at €50m back in January, meaning he’s gained €20m in value in just two-and-a-half months. He’s now the second 18 year-old player in the rankings according to value in all of football, with just his teammate Ansu Fati, rated at €80m, ahead of him.
He hit €15m in October, €30m in November and then €50m in January, before reaching his current tally of €70m now.
Last season, Pedri was rated at €7.2 million when he was at Las Palmas. His performances this season have seen the market value reach a career high so far. He’s only surpassed by Lionel Messi, Marc Andre Ter-Stegen, Frenkie de Jong and Ansu Fati in the Barcelona squad in terms of market value.
The youngster has found himself as a regular in Ronald Koeman’s plans this season, having made 41 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions already. He has also been called up for the Spain national team, and will be making his debut in the next international break in all probability.
