New Barcelona signing Pedri could apparently cost the club a total of €25 million, despite paying just €5 million upfront this summer to seal the deal. Las Palmas chairman Miguel Ramirez has said that the cumulative figure can reach that much, provided Pedri is able to satisfy the conditions as part of the transfer.

The detailed report goes onto state that the “first €250k clause is close to being fulfilled with the minimum number of games objective fulfilled, whilst multiple other attainable clauses are said to be within reach.”

Las Palmas also hold the right to 15% profits of any future transfer should he move away from Barcelona. This could represent a good overall financial deal for Las Palmas, who would as many sporting entities, be hit with finances owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

Pedri had come in as a mere squad member to provide competition to the regular wingers like Dembele, Messi and quite possibly even Coutinho. But under new manager Ronald Koeman, he has so far made 8 appearances and even scored in the Champions’ League game against Ferencvaros.

The plan that FC Barcelona has drawn up with Pedri

Originally planned to link up with the U21 side of the La Masia academy, Pedro Gonzalez as he is originally called has made great strides in going up the ranks to secure a spot in the first team.

An attacking midfielder by trade, he is equally good at playing on the flanks. Barcelona fans have also been amazed by his linkup play and technical dribbling ability, which has seen him be a very difficult player for opposition defences to tackle and bring down.

And as long as he continues performing the way he has done so in this initial period, Barcelona will definitely not mind playing €25 million for a player that could become a diamond in the first team for years to come.
