Real Madrid are monitoring long-time transfer target Paul Pogba for a free transfer next summer. The Frenchman has less than one year left on his current deal, which expires in June 2022.
He will be able to speak to clubs abroad regarding a pre-contract agreement to join them in the summer. Considering Pogba’s tumultuous spell at Manchester United, it seems like they are not going to renew his deal and are resigned to losing him for free.
Pogba has made no qualms about his desire to play for Real Madrid in the past. He has stated that he dreams to play for Real Madrid, and would like to move to the Spanish capital at some point. And now, it seems like the midfielder has the opportunity to make the switch.
As of recently, Pogba has found himself out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjær. The player came on as a substitute in United’s 5-0 home thrashing against Liverpool and was sent off after 15 minutes. Solskjær has opted not to use him in their biggest games, and it seems like the squad will be more balanced without him.
Madrid need to find backup options for their midfielders, Kroos, Casemiro and Modric. While Eduardo Camavinga has impressed since arriving from Rennes, Los Blancos will still be looking for a direct starter to help increase the depth of the squad.
Their El Clasico rivals Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also monitoring Pogba’s situation and could step in to try and sign him as a free agent soon.
